Father Jasper has recently been transferred to the Church of Sainte Croix in Anniston, AL. That morning, he goes shopping and sees a young girl being hit by a car and dying on the spot. However, it’s only a vision. There’s no speeding car and no victim. He returns home after completing his purchases to find a dead man at the foot of the stairs inside the vicarage. As he turns away in horror, the scene disappears. There’s no dead man at the foot of the stairs. Later that day, as he’s working in the garden, he witnesses a young woman throwing herself from the roof of the vicarage. A day or so later, quite perturbed by these incidents, Father Jasper takes photographs of the places where these incidents occurred in his visions. When Mrs. Latimer arrives at the vicarage the following Monday, she announces that her neighbor’s girl has been hit by a car and that she’s dead. Father Jasper is dumfounded. He shows the photograph that he’s taken of “a” car speeding at the very same spot where the girl has been killed to Inspector Lamont. The picture shows the dead girl. Shocked, both men hurry to the vicarage. What will they find? Will there be a dead man at the foot of the stairs and a woman lying in a pool of blood in the garden?
