The central character Jean Louise ‘Scout’ Finch has been presented again by the author in this novel. She is now twenty six years old. As the novel opens, she comes back from New York to the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama. It is her annual visit that lasts for two weeks. There is no doubt that the novel shows Harper Lee’s craft as a writer, and about that there is no dispute. However, in this book she seems to be probing several moral questions. The other themes that the author explores throughout the story are sexism and racism.
